The Lakiya Negev weaving project aims to revive Bedouin heritage in traditional handcrafts, and to provide women with the opportunity to develop knitting and weaving skills. Moreover, the project wishes the women to acquire new skills in the fields of production and management, in order to implement them in income-generating activities.
The weaving of the carpets and ethnic pillow covers is carries out on domestic looms, and based on pure sheep wool, of the "Oasti" type, purchased from local shepherds in the Negev region. The colors of the carpets include traditional Bedouin colors, such as red, black, olive green and dark blue.
